when will I meet my guru? | how to find guru or spiritual master

when will I meet my guru, meeting guru

when will I meet my guru ?” – this is one of the most important question in every seeker life.
the simple answer to this question is that guru is always there, he is every where.
but you should be ready to learn.

if you really want to learn then you can learn from a rock also.
everything in this world is a teacher to someone who really wants to learn.
like it happened in the case of lord dattatreya who learned from nature
and he had 24 gurus. few of them are air, earth, sky, fire, moth, elephant, ant, fish, deer and so on.

so the real question is “are we available to guru?
are we ready to lose the borrowed knowledge, ego and our desires?

meeting guru

when will I meet my guru or spiritual master?

all traditions of the world say it’s the guru who finds the disciple. guru already knows about disciple, so many lives they have traveled together. guru traces the disciple among countless souls and whole existence participates in this divine game.

but our ego stops guru from coming closer to us. nothing else to do, guru silently waits for flower inside our heart to blossom and one day when fragrance of that flower start filling the air. guru appear from no where and prepare us to be offered to divine. that is the whole mystery and this can happen any moment. physically disciple could be close to master but many times the disciple heart does not communicate with the master. only heart understands the language of love. the master knows no other language than love. in fact, the master is sheer love and nothing else. what ever comes from Master, it’s out of love and compassion.

the disciple’s mind says many times that the guru is very hard. but how can a guru be hard to anyone. guru is pure love. it’s just that we need a shock to come out from our sleep. and who wants to wake up from his sleep? ouspensky, chief disciple of gurdjieff had written one book with this title, “the man who disturbed my sleep”.

in the kriya yoga tradition, once babaji was working with his very close group of disciples. it was a secluded place. suddenly from nowhere and to every one surprise, one man found their place. the guru always attracts sincere seekers. its such a strong pull that place and time are immaterial. the man asked his beloved babaji to initiate him as his disciple or he will commit suicide.

to everyone’s surprise babaji told him bluntly to go on and commit suicide. the very next moment the man jumped from the hill. words from guru are like command for a real disciple. babaji then asked his disciples to bring the dead man’s body and he was brought back to life by babaji. later babaji told that because of past life karma he had to die once before being initiated to spiritual sadhana. eventually that seeker became a very close disciple of babaji. the meaning of initiation is simply that you are dying to your past and now its guru’s responsibility to take you to the other shore.

in another instance, once babaji was meditating with his disciples. suddenly babaji picked up one burning log of wood and touched the arm of one of his disciples. the disciple shrieked with pain. maitreya – a very close disciple of Babaji could not tolerate this barbarous act and questioned babaji. babaji said as per his karmas his time had come to die with fire burns, but now not only his suffering is reduced, he can continue his spiritual practice in this body only.

all the eastern religions say “there are many awakened souls always in this world but not all can become a Guru”. the guru is one who has the chance to merge with existence for ever but still out of love or compassion, the guru stops at the last step and come back to world to share his experience. the desire which brought back the guru to our world is to take away many more souls along the final journey.

buddha guru

in buddhism, there is a story which says gautam buddha is still waiting at kingdom of heaven. shakya muni (buddha) is refusing to enter inside heaven just for us. buddha says he will not enter inside heaven unless the whole existence becomes enlightened. this is sheer compassion.

somehow great souls like gautam buddha, ramakrishna, gurdjieff, christ, krishna, babaji keep one desire with them so that they can work with their loved ones, who understands them and are ready to risk everything. ramakrishna used food as his last attachment with this world. Some time “this desire to help us” act as their last desire which binds them with our mundane world.

guru is more eager to meet disciple than disciple is to meet Guru. but the guru is no more a doer, all effort and doing had dropped long ago. the moment mind is dropped, all doing is stopped. no matter how much the guru desires to help us. he has to wait for our willingness to cooperate. so the guru waits.

guru knows we are missing ecstasy and bliss every moment. every moment guru is available for us. but we miss again and again. many of the seekers lose their hope, many blame the guru, many start doubting. but guru is eternally hopeful, ever loving. guru does not get tired with our mistakes. but still our eyes remain close and we search for joy in our dreams. the spiritual world has its own dreams spiritual powers, the desire to become Guru. in love the Guru silently suffers and this is very mysterious. “Only thing that is greater than disciple stupidity is master compassion”

guru suffers because of our shallowness, cowardliness, greed but still his love for the disciple is same as before. god has made mother so that there is some one who takes care of innocent baby and god has made Gurus to take care of spiritual seekers.

guru is none other than divine mother. mother gives birth to us and guru gives us deliverance from this world. the guru takes us back to our source. there are some rare souls who don’t need physical presence of guru to guide them, they make this whole existence their guru. but if you can’t learn from nature then you need a master in physical form.

meditation/bhakti/tantra all are toys in hands of disciples and the presence of guru is like a mother who looks after her children. most loving relationship in this world is between a guru and the disciple. the guru shares his experience, bliss and being with the disciple but needs nothing in back. guru is already fulfilled. but who understands guru?

how to find your guru or spiritual master

how to find your guru or spiritual master?

no need to put effort in finding your guru. in fact the very effort you are putting in finding guru can take you far. instead put your sincere energy in transforming yourself. be sincere in your spiritual sadhana. be honest and be regular in your chosen spiritual practice.

when you are ready then master will come to you or he will call you to his place. so wait for that signal to come from guru’s side. the only thing that is stopping you from meeting your guru is that you are not ripe enough. you are not yet ready for the teachings. the seeking has to be intense.

in fact, many times mind can use this thought of meeting guru as a excuse for not doing the spiritual practice. because the mind can give the excuse that you are not progressing because you don’t have a guru.

your inner voice is also the voice of your guru – always be true to yourself and never kill your inner voice. your inner voice comes from your soul which is always in touch with higher forces or masters. so always pay attention to your inner voice and ignore the voice of mind. your inner voice can catch the signal of your guru to come and take you to your guru. so as long as you don’t meet your guru then treat your inner voice of soul as the voice of guru.

If you follow the righteous path and are sincere in your practice then nobody can stop you from meeting your guru. Only thing which is hindrance in the path is insincerity. If you are not sincere then even guru can not help you much.

i was always interested in meditation, occult, tantra and spirituality. only god knows for how long. i must have sat with many enlightened masters but somehow always managed to keep on refining my ego !!!
